The Andrea Greer Silvia Dyslexia Center - teacher training, lectures and workshops, tutoring
Our Schools

Andrea consults with schools who are interested in becoming accredited Orton-Gillingingham schools. She also consults with schools who are not interested in formal accreditation, but want a solid Orton-Gillingham program in the school.

In addition, Andrea has a vision of creating school that use a multisensory approach while centering all curriculum on ocean ecology. The schools will place a heavy emphasis on science, from Kindergarten through high school. Students will spend much of their time outdoors, in and around the water. Students will do real studies on the Atlantic Ocean and use their knowledge to make needed changes in the community. The language curriculum will be phonics-based, systematic and structured. All content area classes will be interconnected.
Since oceans are "global," students will have to learn about the world and make contacts with students in other countries as they complete projects.
Children with language-based learning differences will fit in well because the Orton-Gillingham approach will be available to all.

Ms. Silvia studied Environmental Law and worked in the past to protect the Long Island Sound and the Hudson River. She wants to continue her work by encouraging and teaching students to care and to do the same.
If interested in more information , Andrea will send you newspaper articles highlighting her innovative science curriculum and experiences in the classroom.

Anyone who is interested in helping to make this idea a reality should contact Andrea immediately.
